ALLIANCE RUPTURES & RESOLUTIONS IN THERAPY

This one-day interprofessional course is suitable for clinical psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors who want to explore some of the key challenges of therapeutic work. It focuses on therapeutic alliance ruptures and how to address them, across different therapeutic modalities.

The course addresses issues arising in community mental health teams with a focus on assessment.

CORONER'S COURT INQUEST

Category: Legal

This one-day inter-professional course is suitable for psychiatrists and other members of the mental health team who may be asked to appear before a Coroner’s Court. The course narrative has been devised and written by experts in attending Coroner’s Court and, as such, will help address many of the common issues and challenges that clinicians find difficult when attending coroner's court.

CRISIS & HOME TREATMENT TEAM SIMULATION TRAINING

This course is suitable for a range of clinicians involved in making clinical treatment decisions and performing risk assessments of acutely unwell patients: Consultants, CT/ST Grade Doctors, Care Co-ordinators, Psychiatric Liaison Nurses, Inpatient Nurses, Home Treatment Team Members.

DUTY SENIOR NURSE (DSN)

Category: Adult mental health staff

This three-day course first of which is theory based with the other two days simulation based. This course is aimed at band 6+ nurses who act as the duty senior nurse (DSN). Where approved by their line manager, it is also suitable for Band 5 nurses as part of their professional development plan.
It is suitable for professionals requiring clarification and advice about the role of the DSN, and Trust support structures and resources.

EMERGENCY TEAM SIMULATION (ETS)

This one-day inter-professional course is aimed at any clinician who may act as a member of the emergency response team in psychiatric healthcare settings. This includes: mental health nurses, healthcare assistants, care support workers and psychiatric doctors.

IN-SITU (WARD BASED SIMULATION TRAINING)

This one-day inter-professional course is aimed at all those working in acute in-patient psychiatric settings. This includes all grades of psychiatric doctors, mental health nurses, healthcare assistants, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists. It offers a team training exercise in a real life clinical environment, e.g. in a mental health ward, thereby leading to unique educational outcomes. 

MAKING THE CHALLENGING CLINICAL DECISION

This one-day inter-professional course is suitable for mental health professionals involved in the care of patients across inpatient and community mental health settings. The course can accommodate a range of clinicians involved in making clinical treatment decisions and performing risk assessments of acutely unwell patients. MENTAL HEALTH FOR THE ACTORS

This two-day course is for any professional actor, or actor in training, looking to develop an increased understanding of mental health conditions and the way in which they manifest in those suffering from them. 
Participants will benefit from contact with individuals with long term mental health conditions and experienced mental health professionals. Actors will get to understand simulation training as an educational intervention and gain experience in acting in this unique setting.

PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH - BROMLEY CCG

This one-day interactive simulation training course is open to midwives and health visitors who are involved in the care of women with mental health problems, during pregnancy or following delivery.

This course aims aim to enhance the confidence, knowledge and clinical skills of staff who are working in a Place of Safety (PoS) or Section 136 Suite.  It focus’ on how to manage acute physical and mental health problems, as well as specifically exploring team work, staff roles and resources in this unique environment. 

PRACTICING PSYCHIATRIC COMPETENCIES - PPC

This one-day course is aimed at psychiatry core trainees and foundation or GP trainees who are currently on psychiatry rotations. The course focuses on clinical skills, especially history taking, risk assessment, alliance building and introduction to de-escalation techniques. The learning objectives are based on the core curriculum set out by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

The Police and Ambulance Services are two professions that often find themselves working collaboratively with one another, to help a patient in a mental health crisis out of hours. It has been noted that the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) lack in training in suicide prevention and there are problems with interagency working.
